AUT: Social Centers: it's again repression

Hallo,

So, it's again repression against the social centers. It's not unexpected,
in effect, because we learnt that as soon as you really bother the power
and the dominating lobbies, they unleash all kinds of hounds and servants,
but still what happened take us back to the '80 -- cold war, secret
services and terrorism.

Just in this last month, we had:

12 people sued on April 25 in Milan for illegally reclaiming the streets,
demonstrating against the USA consulate and burning the Italian flag
hanging outside a police station: they are accused of 16 "crimes".

Always on April 25, the social centre "Askatasuna" in Turin was completely
smashed down by a dirty squad of anti-riot police, with arrestations of
men, women and children (released only after hours of interrogations in the
Turin police headq.)

The Major of Milan declaring that in the grassroots trade unions which
promoted the general strike against the Kosovo war (to which partecipated
more than 1 million workers) there are "signs of terrorists committees".
Interrogated later by the police, the Major could not specify the name of a
single terrorist. Not one!

The D'Antona murder -- mr. D'Antona, shy and dutyful burocrat working for
the Ministry of Work, was killed in Rome by a supposed "Red Brigade" group.
The first analisys on the communication claiming the murder shows a very
different style from the old Red Brigade style, and the famous five tops
star is different that the traditional one.

7 arrestations in Naples last week for an unhautorized demonstration of
unemployed. This people was released just a few days ago.

And this week, 40 camerades of the Milan antagonistic area were inquired
for "Illegal association aimed to terroristic actions". The official papers
are dated July 7, and people starts to receive them these days. Nobody from
Leoncavallo and Ya Basta is involved -- but obviously this is nothing to be
happy for.

What next?

All this shows a very simple thing: they are scared. More and more people
starts to realize that most of their energy, creativity and time is spent
to make the rich richer and to allow the functioning of this monster
society. Poverty is growing all over the world, and social disgregation
too. If this disgregation goes toward the antagonistic area, there will
come very hard times for the 435 richest men in the world (which, all
together, have more money than the whole 3rd world countries!!)

Therefore, whoever opposes the power from beneath, from the people's point
of view, MUST bear the label of terrorist -- the general strike against the
Kosovo war must have rang some bell in many important heads.

But, alas, the Social Centers are not terrorists. So the power produced an
"excellent murder" to prove that -- after all -- some terrorist is always
existing in the antagonistic area.

Against all this, to show our strenght, our solidarity beyond all
differences, our capability to act and react, all the squats and Social
Centers in Milan will organize in September a large mass demonstration,
possibly a national demo, peaceful, colorful and as united as possible. The
first preparatory meeting will take place next thursday.
