Subject: Anti-G7-Demonstration Cologne June 19
Demonstration against the Group of Eight Summit
in Cologne, Saturday, June 19th 1999
The complete double-program
The main program
Demonstration against global poverty, racism and war
The night before Saturday June the 19th and in the early
morning-hours a
few thousands people from all over Germany, from other European
countries and other continents will move towards Cologne in order
to
join a demonstration which the slogan is "The End of Modesty -
Storm The
Summit".
At 12.30 pm the demonstration will start on a central place in
the inner
city of Cologne (the exact place still isn't fixed, look for
flyers or
news in the internet). For the starting we will listen to the
speaches
of Len Weinglass (who is the lawyer of the journalist Mumia Abu
Jamal
who is condemned to death), Erika Feyerabend (Bioskop), Michel
Chossudovsky (Kanada). They all will argue about the connection
of wars
und global economy. Moreover a representative of the
InterContinental
Caravan of 500 indish and southamerican farmers will make a
speech.
At 2 pm the international demonstration will start, moving
through the
inner city, as close as possible to the place where the summit
will take
place. Not only a group of Kurds, members of the german campaign
"Kein
Mensch ist illegal" (No person is illegal), will join the
demonstration
but also other groups and organisations of refugees as well as
the 500
indish and southamerican farmers of the InterContinental Caravan
who
resist in their home countries - and now in Cologne on the
occasion of
the Group of Eight summit - against the international
agricultural and
food companies.
At 4.30 pm the demonstration will end - again with speeches of
prominent
people: Madjiguhne Cissi, representative of the french
organisation
"Sans papier" (people without identity card), will talk about the
connection of global economy, racism and refugees. Horst Eberhard
Richter will talk about the NATO aggression against Jugoslavia
and
finally Ann Pettifor, member of the campaign "Erla_jahr 2000"
will make
a speech about the unbearable situation which the highly indebted
countries of the South have to deal with.
At 6 pm (latest) the rally will find an end.
The program beside
The Group of Eight Summit taking place in order to stabilize the
existing global economy
Saturday, June the 19th, the german chancelor Gerhard Schrvder
and his
wife will welcome the other participants of the G 8 Summit and
their
wives at the Heinrich-Bvll-Platz (it's quiet interesting to
imagine what
the german author would have thought about this...). The local
daily
newspaper "Kvlner Stadtanzeiger" has written in their issue of
May, 4th:
"Flags will blow in the wind, children will wave and hymns will
be
played".
After this opening all these very important persons will retire
into the
Museum Ludwig in order to discuss the international financial
crises and
the conclusions, the situation in the higly indebted countries
and the
war in Jugoslavia.
In the meanwhile the wives will be on a shipping tour on the
Rhine,
having lunch in a vineyard, talking to young people.
At the end of the day they will meet their husbands again and
together
they are supposed to visit the philharmonic concert hall in
Cologne for
a concert. Afterwards they will visit the old town near the
riverside,
where exactly is - of course - unknown and top secret.

press)
