International Labour Organisation, Convention 29
is being used by New Zealanders to challenge workfare.
..... snip .....
- NZ has recently been accused of contravening
the International Labour Organisation, Convention 29 ratified
by NZ in 1938 with their newly introduced ' Work for the Dole'
cum 'Community Wage' scheme -- the convention obliges
the NZ government to "suppress the use of complusory labour
in all its forms' which is defined as "work or service which
is extracted from any person under the the menace of any
penalty and for which the said person has not offered
himself voluntarily".
