Subject: Defending trade union rights: do labour websites do their job?

Today's edition of the newsletter Global Labournet -- located at
http://www.solinet.org/LEE/labour04.html -- takes a look at four cases
of violations of labour rights and how fifteen websites cover them.

The violations include murder, imprisonment and kidnapping of trade
unionists, as well as an attempt to crush an entire powerful union.
They took place in Africa, Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region.

The websites surveyed include international trade union bodies,
national trade union centers, human rights groups, and labournets.

The results are surprising -- and deserve serious thought. I invite
you to read this issue of Global Labournet, and to send in your
comments on the survey to the Labour Webmasters' Forum, located at
http://www.labournet.org.uk/lnforum/index.html

Thanks.
