AUT: strange to be back
I've been back home for about a week, after 2 months away with only
random access to the net. Trying to follow the posts on the list over
the last few days has been weird - not a peep from many of the old
regulars, while others are fending off the sort of sweeping, abstracted
arguments which have given so much of "revolutionary politics" such a
bad name.
I have as little (but also as much) right as anybody else to say what we
*should* be talking about, and perhaps everyone else is too busy in the
real world to start other threads of discussion, or to help bring the
union/party/revolution one back out of the stratosphere and into contact
with the ground. But when I hear Chris threatening to leave the list
because of sectarian outbursts, I know something is fundamentally amiss.
Perhaps it's time we went back and re-read the original list statement
of purpose drafted by Franco and myself - after all, it's a couple of
years old now.
IMO, it still encapsulates the main issues I think need to be thrashed
out - what do others think?
