Apologies for the general nature of this letter, but it was imperative to
get it out fast and to as many folks as possible. Please pass this info on.

The Black Fist collective is issuing new information and fliers in regard
to the status of Texas prisoner Chris Plummer, and a plea on behalf of
prison labor organizer Willie A. Milton. Please read carefully.
[...]
On another note from Texas, prison labor activist Willie A. Milton is again
under attack and very much needs your support. Willie is executive director
of the Texas Prisoners Labor Union, which is organizing for equitable labor
practices and pay for prisoners in the Texas system. For his honest, bold
stance, Willie has faced incredible repression, including numerous seizures
of literature, union documents, religious materials and personal
belongings; mail tampering and "disappearance"; dangerous rumor and
misinformation; and trips to solitary.

At this writing, Willie has had more personal mateirals seized and is in
solitary again. Willie Milton's activity -- networking and organizing
prisoners of their rights as workers and towards unionizing -- is perfectly
legal, yet prison administration has seen fit to do everything in their
power to shut him down. More than anything, Willie Milton needs contact
with people willing to provide consistent contact and support for what is a
historical effort to unionize prisoners. Contact Milton at: Willie A.
Milton, #561014, Rt. 3, Box 59, Rosharon, TX 77583. Also, write a letter
requesting all seizures of Milton's items and further harassment be ceased
to: Warden David Stacks, Darrington Unit, Rt. 3, Box 59, Rosharon, TX
77583. If you wish to get more involved in supporting the TPLU, write
Dwight L. Rawlinson, TPLU outside executive coordinator, 2121 South 4th,
Waco, TX 76706.

On a final, but extremely imperative, note, May 20 marks the start of the
trial of Raza activist Alvaro Luna Hernandez. I cannot emphasize enough
Alvaro's importance as an organizer and figure in the Chicano Mexicano
self-determination movement, especially in Texas and all publicity and
support for his case is absolutely necessary. Hernandez was the primary
force behind groups like the Chicano Prisoners Resistance Movement,
National Movement of La Raza, the Ricardo Adalpe Gerra Defense Committee
(Adalpe won his case in April and was released after 15+ years on death
row). He is a true soldier and a good friend facing a very long prison term
for defending himself against a police attack. Contact Alvaro at: Alvaro
Hernandez, #7005911, El Paso County Jail, El Paso, TX 79999. You can also
check out information on the case at Union del Barrio's pages located at
http://burn.ucsd.edu/~udb/cmpp-alvaro.html.

Please get in touch if you have questions.
