1st MAY A BALANCE SHEET

For years the working class has had to submit to frantic attacks from all
directions.

Throughout the world wages are lower and working conditions are worse.  This
is true both for the metropoles and the periphery of this global capitalist
system.  Those socialist and communist parties which once talked about the
working class were in reality linked to soviet imperialism - wrongly called
socialist - which has now collapsed.  They used to say that this was
communism and now that the monstrosity has failed they declare that
communism has failed. Traitors and liars, these parties now come along
saying that the working class is also finished. Now they tell us we can all
be citizens together.

On 1st May, the traditional day of struggle for the world proletariat, we
repeat that:
class society will continue so long as capitalism exists.
Its true that the capitalist mode of production has changed over two hundred
years of uncontested domination but its fundamental character as a system
based on the exploitation of wage labour hasn't changed.
Capitalism is now globalised - in the sense that it operates on a global
scale both in the productive and financial spheres - and the antagonism
between classes as such has become global.
>From Korea to Mexico, from Italy to the USA, the grip on workers is being
tightened. More and more of the surplus value which nourishes international
finance and productive capital is being extorted.
Yet capitalism is still in crisis - a crisis which began in the Seventies
but which it cannot resolve.
This is the reason for its savage attacks on the working class.
Never before has there been a society capable of producing so much whilst
creating so much misery.  In the US 40 million exist in poverty; 3 million
in Italy.  On the periphery millions are dying of hunger.  And this is what
they call progress?!

A mode of production which has the capacity to produce and distribute so
much but which finds that it is 'forced' to reduce the wages of those who do
the producing, to make them redundant, to cut their pensions and their
welfare schemes, which forces millions of human beings to seek food and
shelter far from their place of birth - such a system of production deserves
to be put to an end.

The Right wants to tighten the vice on the working class and says it wants
to throw out immigrants.  In reality, however, immigrant workers are a
convenient means for capitalist exploitation and to use as blackmail against
workers 'at home'.

The Left would like to find a reformist 'solution' to these problems within
the terms of the existing system.

Internationalists say there can be no salvation, no wellbeing for workers in
this system which will only bring further attacks.  It is up to the
international proletariat to abolish this mode of production and the social
and political structure which stems from it and to construct a society
fitted to meet humanity's needs.

Not reform of wage labour.  Abolition of wage labour.
Not reform of the capitalist state.  Destruction of the capitalist state.
Down with reactionary racism.  Solidarity with the struggle of the world
proletariat  and workers everywhere whatever the colour of their skin.

Da anni la classe operaia sta subendo attacchi forsennati da ogni direzione.
Salario diretto e indiretto e condizioni di lavoro sono peggiorati ovunque,
tanto nelle metropoli quanto nelle periferie del sistema capitalista=
 globale.
I partiti socialisti e comunisti, che una volta si dicevano della classe
operaia erano in realt=E0 legati al centro imperialista sovietico falsamente
definito socialista e ora collassato, Hanno sempre dichiarato che quello era
il comunismo e ora che quella mostruosit=E0 =E8 fallita dichiarano fallito=
 il
comunismo. Traditori e bugiardi, questi partiti vanno ora dicendo che =E8
finita anche la classe operaia. Saremmo tutti cittadini, dicono loro.
Il 1=B0 maggio, tradizionale giornata di lotta del proletariato mondiale,
riaffermiamo che:
la divisione in classi della societ=E0 non cessa fintantoch=E9 non cessa il
capitalismo.
Il modo di produzione capitalista ha subito certamente modifiche in duecento
anni di dominio incontrastato, ma non ha cambiato la sua natura di sistema
di sfruttamento del lavoro salariato.
Il capitalismo si =E8 globalizzato - nel senso che opera oggi tanto sul=
 piano
della produzione come della speculazione su scala globale - e con ci=F2 ha
globalizzato l'antagonismo di classe.
In Corea come in Messico, in Italia come negli Usa, i lavoratori vengono
spremuti per estorcere loro il plusvalore di cui si nutre il capitale
produttivo e speculativo internazionale.
Ma il capitalismo attraversa anche un periodo di crisi, avviatosi ormai
negli anni '70, da cui non riesce a sollevarsi.
Ed =E8 per questo che attacca selvaggiamente i lavoratori.
Mai la societ=E0 =E8 stata in grado di produrre tanto e mai la societ=E0 ha
prodotto anche tanta miseria. 40 milioni di poveri negli Usa; 3 milioni in
Italia, milioni di morti per fame nelle periferie. E questo lo chiamano il
progresso?!
Un modo di produzione che potendo produrre e distribuire tanto si trova
"costretto" a ridurre il salario di chi continua a produrre, a licenziare, a
tagliare la pensione e la sanit=E0, a spingere milioni di esseri umani alla
ricerca di pane e di una casa lontano dalle loro terre di origine - ebbene
questo sistema di produzione merita di finire.
La destra pretende di aumentare la spremitura dei lavoratori e dice di voler
cacciar fuori gli immigrati. In realt=E0 gli immigrati fanno comodo al
capitale per supersfruttarli e usarli come arma di ricatto contro i
lavoratori del paese.=20
La sinistra vorrebbe affrontare questi problemi con "soluzioni" riformiste
tutte interne a questo sistema.=20
Gli internazionalisti riaffermano che non c'=E8 salvezza, non c'=E8=
 benessere
dei lavoratori all'interno di questo sistema, che sempre pi=F9 attaccher=E0,=
 e
che sta al proletariato internazionale abolire questo modo di produzione e
la struttura sociale e politica che ne =E8 espressa e che lo sorregge, per
costruire una societ=E0 a misura dell'uomo e dei suoi bisogni.

Nessuno riforma del lavoro salariato Abolizione del lavoro salariato
Nessuna riforma dello stato borghese Distruzione dello stato borghese
No al razzismo reazionario e becero Solidariet=E0 di lotta del proletariato
mondiale e dei lavoratori di tutti i colori.
