Re: Request for Chris Hani information

Hi John and Adam,

As I privately wrote to Adam, I'm working on a message with more
detailed information on the Chris Hani issue. ANC's implications with
Hani's murderer were first announced three weeks ago in an article on
the "Mail and Guardian", where a former secretary of a National
Intelligence Service official reported that she went through
classified information revealing that not only top ANC officials knew
about the Conservative Party plot to kill Hani, but that they
actually did nothing to prevent it. Subsequent declarations by
operatives in ANC intelligence confirmed this, and someone went as
far as to say that many people in the ANC wouldn't be sorry about
Hani's death. But, as I said, I will send more detailed info ASAP.
However, reactions here were interesting. While ANC people reacted
with outrage or surprise to the news, the most common reaction among
comrades from other tendencies (PAC, AZAPO, Trots) is: "we already
knew it". And actually I find all the surprise a bit strange,
especially if we consider the importance of Hani's death in the rise
of the current pro-neoliberal ANC leadership, the demobilization of
the labour movement and the crisis of the Party.
