Iain Banks' Culture novels
Apropos of nothing: are there any other fans of Iain Banks' Culture novels
on this list apart from Brian, Nick and myself? I gather a new one is in
the pipeline.
I've long thought that Banks' work represent a particularly fine form of
communist sci-fi - witty, action-packed, yet prepared to face up to moral
ambiguities - but one doesn't bump into Banks enthusiasts everyday,
unfortunately.
When I get my act together (ha!), I will have an interview a colleague and
I did with him a few years ago transcribed.
I left Hobo a copy of _Use of Weapons_ last time I was in Padova - but as
to whether he read it, who can say?
If you have no idea what I'm talking about, you may like to check out the

All the best,
Steve
