**Thanks Anne for the clarification. It's hard to disagree with all the adjectives you've used for Goldman Sachs, but I'm not so sure that because present and past governments have thrown the finance keys to these bastards that this necessarily means the state cannot perform an exact opposite and important function, which of course would involve oversight and checks and balances that should easily precent the Treasury from being looted ad nauseum.

As far as "free enterprise" goes, I think we'd agree that transnational
corporations, including Goldman Sachs and the banks (World Bank and IMF),
have been given pretty much free reign over much of the world's resources,
numerous ways in which to hide their income, tax breaks, etc., etc.  So we
would agree that so-called free enterprise is in fact monopoly enterprise.
No disagreement there!
