Situation is the same in East Africa with daily blackouts in Uganda,
Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya, Tanzania. Partly due to rising demand but mainly
due to drop in river levels due to long term drought so no water to drive
hydro-turbines. Filling in the gaps with oil or natural gas, which
Tanzania has done has drive up the cost of "Umeme" or electricity beyond
many peoples capacity to pay. Its a disaster. Getting worse every day. And
rise in cost of food and oil is throwing people onto the road of hunger.
