This is too strong an assertion. 

A Linkspartei can exist -as an important party- in Europe not in USA 
(BTW, Lüko, I've read some most interesting declarations by 
Laffontaine on July 23rd, did you comment on them in Marxmail?). And 
the gas agreements with Russia show, together with Sarkozy's recent 
moves -not unrelated, probably, to these agreements, etc.- that there 
is, at least as a potentiality, some Europe as independent from US.
