Re: [A-List] Roosting Chickens

As catastrophes go, 9/11 was pretty trivial, and it's fairly shocking
how many committed and intelligent leftists freaked out, calling it a
crime against humanity, arguing that justice had to be found, etc. But
leftists are supposed to have some sense of tactics, of effective vs
ineffective rhetoric. It was correct and necessary to emphasize the
points Jim emphasizes. But by his not-too-bright rhetoric Churchill sure
caused himself and his defenders a lot of unnecessary hassle.

And the comparison to Malcolm X is incorrect. Kennedy was neither a
bureaucrat nor an ordinary office worker; he was a war criminal. So
Malcolm X's statement was a calm statement of fact, not a rhetorical
blunder or overstatement, and in fact it's worth repeating once in a
while and defending vigorously.

Malcolm X was a giant. Not so Churchill.
