Re: [A-List] Liu quoted by Austrailian Labor Press
I like reading Henry's pieces sometimes. I think there is a danger in
always seeing the 'left' as totally naive about economics and finance,
so I think Henry does a real service in keeping us up to date on the
ways capital thinks and operates in the post-big-bang world.
There are others out there on the www who are equally good, but they
don't bother to try to deal with left-wing discussion lists. Thanks to
Henry's patientce, we can turn to people like Henry to arm us with the
info. we need to tell self-appointed idiots like Duff Henwood to buzz
off.
On my other hand, I have a note written to myself to remind you all:
as socialists I don't think most of us think that Hayekians, Chicago
School, or Keynesians are really up to managing capitalism's crises.
For example, we don't need to be economists to intuit that a private
equity fund didn't just buy Chrysler from D-B because they want to
take over its retirement commitments.
