[A-List] Liu quoted by Austrailian Labor Press

My article on Liquidity Boom, criticized by someone on this list for having been reposted on Prudent Bear, is also quoted in the Australian Labour press, which does not think I am a rightwinger.

From Australian newspaper, The Age :

The chances of a "disorderly adjustment" is very high, according to Henry C.K. Liu, who is chairman of a New York-based investment group and regular correspondent for the Asia Times Online. He points out that US growth, financed by an overextended debt bubble, is unsustainable. He points to the parallels with the market crash in 1987 and the Asian financial crisis in 1997. According to Liu, "globalisation and hedging have merely postponed, not eliminated, cyclical inflation".

Liu notes the rapid redistribution of income from wages to profits. This reflects a trend by companies to maximise their earnings by abdicating their social responsibilities to their workers and society. In Australia, neither of the major political parties seem to understand that responsible unions, by their ability to speak out about issues arising from the shop floor and by keeping upward pressure on wages, actually promote labour productivity compared with non-unionised workplaces.
