In the intelligence business they use an acronym M.I.C.E. for the four
basic reasons why individuals betray a trust and how to approach or set
someone up for ultimate compromise and betrayal of that to which they have
been entrusted: M stands for Money; I stands for Ideology; C stands for
Compromise; and E stands for Ego. Of these four reasons for betrayal of a
trust, Compromise is said to be the strongest for several reasons: a) A
compomised person, someone subject to blackmail, stands to lose in the
other three areas if exposed; b) A compromised person compromises not only
himself/herself, but also his/her whole family and even a whole Movement as
often shooting the messenger is enough to commpromise a whole message at
least for a time ("poison pill technique); c) a person may be willing to
give-up and/or highly risk his or her own life for Money--to take care of a
family, for Ideology or for Ego but risking and causing threat to one's
whole family a person often will not be willing to do--which is why many
criminal elements go after the family leaving the individual alive--and the
person subject to blackmail, compromises his whole family as well as his
relationship with it and a movement (especially if that person is in the
highest levels of leadership of a whole movement) to a greater degree than
if caught stealing money, being an egotist or being caught as a hypocrite
to an ideology that person expresses.

No need to cover-up what is clean, only what is dirty and/or can be used
against oneself as "dirty". If MLK had openly said "I am a man and like all
men, I have this sexual energy that is more than my wife Coretta can handle
and/or a thirst for another kind of "diversity" she cannot and/or will not
provide, and we have this understanding, so if you hear stories, do not let
them bother you as I am always on the job for the Movement even when
"Overcoming" in another way in some motel room as I need to renew myself,
that would have informed all concerned what they had a right to know
because they were placing their trust and even lives on the line, and
further the FBI could not have used against him and the mopvement, well
fine--I don't care if MLK had a taste for sheep.

One reason why so many of the so-called "Left" have no problem with
compromise, hypocrisy, egotism etc when exposed on the Left, and a major
reason why the present Western Left is largely a cruel hoax and empty fraud
that will likely never make real change anywhere but rather be dragged
kicking and screaming into any real revolutionary situation, is that many
are simply parlor dilettates playing--at most and in ways comfortable for
themselves--at revolution on various internet lists, lecture circuits, in
some coffee house, in academia, in some arcane journal, in some book or
journal article, at some theatrical demonstrations, etc and have no idea of
what real revolution under real conditions of revolution or even just
survival against existing fascism are all about. They have never lived
under "emergency measures" where one mistake, one slip of the tongue, one
act of baggadocio, forgetting one detail, trusting the wrong person or even
a person betraying a trust that is less important than not being exposed by
blackmailers, can easily lead to many getting killed. They have never lived
under intense 24/7/365 surveillance of everyone and everything around them
with the imperative to hide behind masks and covert acts to keep oneself,
one's family and others who have placed their trust in them alive. They
have never been in demonstrations or actions where no police/army warnings
are given, they just open fire with a lot of dead bodies all around.

Instead we get all these folks talking about all sorts of stuff in far away
places but nothing much about what is going right up the road a few miles
away from where they live and work or at where they work even. People who
do not speak one word of any languages other than English, who have maybe
taken a course or two or read some cherrypicked books or two about far away
places, systems and cultures, KNOW, FOR SURE, who is or is not "righteous",
lying "correct", "progressive", reactionary, in Bosnia, Kosovo, Serbia,
Zimbabwe, China, Vietnam, Cuba, DPRK, India etc etc even if they have never
been to any of those placeds, never read one book or article in the
language of those indigenous to that place or perhaps even talked with one
person indigenous to a given place and cause or forces they KNOW FOR SURE
all about. People who equate revolution with doing/attending a well-paid
lecture circuit to small market niches of middleclass-academic rad-chic
types for whom "activism" is some kind of hobby like stamp collecting (went
to a Ward Churchill lecture today--a threefer as I got radically energized
and did my praxis for the day, plus got into the Genocide thing, plus got
into the  American Indian thing too...) are not inclined to view acts of
hypocrisy by major leaders as serious and potentially life-threatening acts
of compromise and aid-and-comfort to a ruthless and determined enemy.
People who equate revolutionary praxis and leadership with doing a bunch of
lectures in mostly safe venues, writing a bunch of books read only by the
converted, writing in some arcane journals the objects of the research wil
never read or be able to use, flitting from demo to demo, narcissistic
indivdualism via personal demand structures, dues-paying to some union, etc
are not likely to see how deadly on so many levels and in so many ways acts
of compromise by supposed leaders or cadres can be and how widespread can
be the costs.

In Gordon Thomas' "Gideon's Spies: The Secret History of the Mossad" 4th
updated Edition, he notes the story about Clinton and Lewinsky. Clinton
told Lewinsky that her phone may be tapped by a foreign power and they
would have to cut out the extended phone sex. According to Thomas's book,
and he has written several useful books on the Mossad, Clinton was
blackmailed by Mossad to suspend a mole-hunt in the White House by an
extemely high-level and deeply placed mole code-named "Mega", that this
mole may well still be in the U.S. Government, only now passing on
ultra-secret stuff on Iran to Israel and also in reverse placing stuff the
Israeli's want planted on Iran to influence US posture on Iran in the US
policymaking circles. This is why Clinton know acts as an open "adopted
son" of the Bush Crime Family, why Billary is very limited in any criticism
of Bush while Bill makes no criticisms of Bush, why the power of AIPAC has
grown despite the recent AIPAC spy scandals and why Bush has gotten a free
ride from a large part of the Dems under the influence of the DNC. SMALL
COMPROMISES MEAN BIG LOSSES OF LIVES and anyone who really understands what
significant social change is about, especially when faced with ruthless
enemies willing to do or say anything to get the job done from their point
of view should understand this.

Yes King lost his life and that sacrifice should be respected (it should be
noted that King did have armed body guards apparently given special Papal
exemptions from "Nonviolence" but most of the rank-and-file of the Movement
did not). But it also meant, and this is common when dealing with fascists,
is they often kill off those actually least threatening to their agenda,
while those most threatening they do not even know about because what makes
those types most threatening to fascists is they not only have no illusions
about fascists and thier intentions and capabilities, they also know how to
work quietly, in quiet venues, deep an dark, watching their every word and
act so as not to compromise themselves and others who trust them to keep
their shit together and not let M.I.C.E. set back a Movement and give
aid-and-comfort to the enemy.

Yes, for those into "Buffet/Smorgesborg Revolution" (I, ME, will take the
East Timor and the Kosovoa/Bosnia Causes, plus throw in the issues of
whatever Identity Group I affiliate myself with to work and write on; hold
the Rawanda and Darfur they don't intrerest/affect me personally , and on
tactics, I, ME, will take the writing of books and journal articles, the
lecture circuits in exotic locales away from the Peoples/issues being
discussed, and I, ME will do the occasional Demo and newspaper sales if it
is large and safe enough and the weather is good, and I'll set up the
occasional course at my college with a radical-sounding name, but hold the
mass work, recruiting, infiltrations of the enemy camp, archive research
that is not quick "cut and paste", physical labor in setting up venues,
follow-ups with new contacts etc) then yes, a little hypocrisy, betrayal,
sex and using celebrity to get to oppressed people to use as sperm
recpticles (without his celebrity, how often would MLK have even gotten
laid?) is of course no big deal as is apparently the loss of momentum and
the many deaths and injury that flow from these types of betrayal.

Those who have been involved in real revolution under real revolutionary
circumstances, understand, especially if in leadership positions, that once
one crosses the line into commitment and joining up with others who place
their trust and lives in the hands of others, one's life is no longer
simply one's own. Others are placing their own lives, the lives of their
families, their jobs, other things very important, into the hands of others
and those others, by taking on the positions they take must either walk
their talk or get the fuck out.

It is a sad commentary on the pathetic state of the so-called "Left" that
the likes of MLK (for the most part a title-obsessed and narcissistic
self-promoting speechmaker) could be equally and like celebrated by them
and elements and corporations of Monopoly Capital which is what MLK and his
ilk like Jesse Jackson really serve. This is real bourgeois nationalism at
its ugliest, most disingenous and most reactionary in the long run.
