	Why all these fantastic digressions?

	If you will look closely at my hypothesis--that war is the vehicle
for sacrificing people (e. g., one's own soldiers) in order to confer power
on one's society's sacred ideals or ideologies--one will be able to begin to
understand WHY WARS CONTINUE IN THE FACE OF THEIR FUTILITY AND
DESTRUCTIVENESS.
