Workforce Characteristics of the Foreign Born by State from the 2005 American Community Survey

We are pleased to release fact sheets on the workforce characteristics of the foreign born in each state and the nation overall. Simply go to the 2005 ACS/Census Data Tool, select a state, and then choose the "Workforce" fact sheet.

Hub_Icon_ACS The "Workforce" fact sheets will allow you to find out the following:
*the share of the US workforce that was foreign born in 2005, 2000, and 1990;
*the percent of foreign-born workers who have arrived in the United States since 2000;
*the top three occupations and industries of foreign- and native-born workers in 2005;
*languages spoken at home and English proficiency of US workers;

In addition, the 2005 ACS/Census Data Tool provides state-level data on social and demographic characteristics as well as language and education characteristics of the foreign born.

Coming in May: state-level fact sheets on the income and poverty characteristics of the foreign-born.
