Subject: [ciw-chicago-organize] 163 Religious leaders sign-on to
letter to McDs! Hello everyone,
this message is especially for our faith-based allies
in Chicago. Below is a message from the CIW about a letter sent to
McDonald's by over 160 religous leaders from around the country.
Congregations and organizations can still sign on to the letter! Below
that message is information about faith/worship materials, bulletin inserts, and
more information about the actions in April.
Thanks!

"The human rights abuses endured by tomato pickers are a
moral outrage not only because
they are grave, but because they are preventable. Within your hands lie both the power and the moral
responsibility to end these horrendous
conditions in your own supply chain. And there is a clear path forward: work together with the farmworkers
who are harvesting your
tomatoes, who are enduring and resisting these abuses, and who have established a proven model with Taco Bell
for addressing them."
So reads, in part, a letter sent to McDonald's CEO Jim Skinner and head of Social Responsibility Bob Langert last week by over 160 religious leaders from around the country, a letter that ends demanding that the fast-food giant "not let farmworkers and their families suffer one more day." You can see the letter in its entirety, and a list of signatories (including the Rev. Dr. Bob Edgar, General Secretary of the National Council of Churches of Christ in the USA) at the CIW site, http://www.ciw-online.org . If you would like to sign-on to the letter, send your full name, title, congregation and/or organization, address, and email to: fairfood@ctr.pcusa.org. Additional signatures will be forwarded to McDonald's. The pressure continues to build as religious, youth, labor, and community supporters gather their strength for the actions ahead in Chicago April 13th and 14th. Join the CIW and thousands of allies as we take the fight for Fair Food to McDonald's hometown. Check the CIW site for all the latest news. Thanks, Coalition of Immokalee
Workers
