San Pedro de Atacama is a very strange place to write about Ecuador 
from.

The nearest simile I can find, and even this does not convey the full 
picture, is that of some journalist who sent a dispatch on the 
election of a new Georgia governor from, say, Coeur d'Alene.  Not 
that it is impossible.  It just sounds, er, strange.
