[A-List] accumulation/financialisation - a query
Yes, the struggles against the World Bank and IMF are important. However, I
said, Wall Street and the U.S. Treasury. I don't know of any movement to
confront them directly do you ? One of the old Leninist ideas is to struggle
against one's own imperialism.
Exactly, how do we rouse people here against finance capital in general;
credit card companies, predatory lending. Even GM has had its bond rating
lowered to junk by Wall Street, threatening the livelihoods of tens of
thousands.
Show the People the money ! We need from Marxist economists popular
arguments as to why finance capital does not justly "own" all that money.
What are you referring to about the danger of mixing Marxist economic theory
with populist politics ?

Never satisfied, no! But through a coordinated campaign to defund the World
Bank, for example (http://www.worldbankboycott.org
<http://www.worldbankboycott.org/> ), the potential
occasionally comes through. Fifteen years ago I thought there was a bit more
life in the US movement, at the time of S&L, redlining and consumer credit
scandals. I wrote up an excessively optimistic account, the full version of
which I'll send you offlist... (and anyone who wants too). The dangers of
mixing Marxist economic theory with populist politics are rather obvious, in
retrospect
Cheers,
Patrick
