Re: [A-List] My note: China-Africa

Sabri:

The history of this list has something to do with Mark Jones and I and
perhaps several others for different reasons having been unsubbed from
so-called left/progressive lists such as lbo-talk and pen-l. When Mark
Jones started the A-list, I was one of the early people he invited to
join after I had been unceremonially unsubbed from the other lists for
too vigorously defending myself from coordinated racist attacks because
of my allegedly reversed racist views. The A-list from time to time
recently attracts the same characters from the other lists to start the
same cycle of attacks. Bond, by the content of his posts and the tactic
of his arguments has lost all credibility with me and I do not find it
useful to engage him. But I cannot allow him to make inflammatory
reactionary accusations disguised as progressive statements, even though
its a waste of time to respond to him. I have a lot of experience with
British-trained Third World elite intellectuals who fashion themselves
as progressives, who repeats ad nausia Western human rights mantra as
self righteous diploma for revolutionary righteousness.

Let a hundred flower bloom requires that the ideas be flowers, not
poisonous weeds.

I will ignore Bond as much as I can, and if I can no longer keep my
peace, I will unsub myself from this list. But I cannot change my views
of him.

what "Chinese brutality in Africa" is he babbling

Dear Henry,

I am glad to see that the topic continues but I am not glad to see that it
continues this way! I do not think Patrick lost all credibility on his
integrity. We all make "mistakes" every now and then, and I think using the
word "fascist" in connection with Chinese "capitalism" was a "mistake" on
his part. "Chinese brutality in Africa" does not sound that well either,
until it is proven, supposing that we know what exactly it means. However,
given his past, Patrick can afford to make a few of such mistakes every now
and then. The same applies to you too.

What I am interested in seeing in this discussion is some fruitful exchange
from which we all can learn but it is not going to happen if such
accusations continue.

By the way, I guess I would be good candidate for the following award Jim
defined:

f) Order of Revolutionary List Management: given to list managers and
originators for their time and expenses incurred maintaining lists of
cyberwarriors from fundamentally contradictory and hostile sects and
perspectives while balancing flame wars to protect the numbers of
cyberwarriors and often esoteric discussions on the list in order to
protect/project the list itself;
<<<

Kidding aside, I do not think this list and its members qualify for any of
the awards Jim mentions and I ask their help in proving me correct. The main
objective of this list's originator, that is, Mark Jones, was to avoid such
nonsense so that we all can engage in intelligent discussions, and exchange
knowledge and information on the fundamental economic, political,
ideological, ecological and war-peace dimensions of what Mark called
Exterminism, that is, what we have now as the governing world system.

This has been the main objective of his predecessors, including myself as
well, and I hope that it continues to be so also in the future with or
without the current moderators.

Now I repeat my call:

"Let a thousand flowers bloom, let a hundred schools of thought contend!"

Hmmm! I am not sure but it is possible that someone else might also have
said this some time ago! And most likely, that person did call hundreds of
persons to insult each other.

What China is and what she is not is a very important topic for all of us to
think and learn about independently of this list and if we can do talk about
it here in a productive manner, what more can we expect from a list like
this.

Do you think we can do that here?

Best,

Sabri
