Talks Mehr News Agency (Iran) December 17, 2005 Iran, China begin fresh round of energy talks TEHRAN — Senior oil officials from Iran and China will start tomorrow a new round of negotiations on Iran’s LNG – liquefied natural gas - sales to China. They will also resume discussions on the development of Iran’s Yadavaran oil and gas field by the Chinese experts. “Iranian and Chinese oil officials had about two years ago signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) based on which the Chinese side was to purchase 250 million tons of LNG from Iran within a period of 30 years. Moreover, 51 percent of the developmental operations of the Yadavaran Oil Field was to be awarded to the Chinese side through a buyback deal”, the Persian service of IRNA quoted deputy oil minister Hadi Nejad-Hosseinian as saying here on Friday. In drafting their development plan, the Chinese are apparently cooperating with the Shell Oil Co., the Iranian oil official said when commenting on the aims of the Chinese senior oil officials’ ongoing visit to Iran. Following the repayment of the investment costs in the form of oil delivery to the Chinese side, 150,000 barrels of crude oil per day will be also sold to China for a period of 25 years. The oil price then would be the official price of the commodity announced at the delivery time. Elsewhere in his comments the deputy oil minister referred to the revisions made to a number of the oil contracts and noted that, one of the changes would be the improvements made to the buyback contracts. He added, by making small revisions to the existing contracts, their main problems could be resolved. “Meanwhile, the issue would not be time-consuming either.” __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
