1) Interference of 44 US congressmen rebuffed by Italian court
Campaign 10 Euro for the Iraqi resistance ruled legal
On September 3 the court of inquiry of Perugia, Italy,
annulated the sequestration warrant against Emanuale Fanesi,
militant of the Anti-imperialist Camp, who holds the bank
account of the campaign "10 Euro for the Iraqi resistance".
His computer and all documents related to this bank account
sequestrated by the political police DIGOS on June 30 must
be returned to him.
The court argued that there is not sufficient evidence to
sustain the prosecutor's claim of "membership in an
organisation with the aim of (international) terrorism"
(Â270 bis of the penal code).
This is a scattering defeat for both the American party in
Italy and the US itself. They have been trying to
criminalise the Anti-imperialist Camp since the beginning of
the occupation of Iraq for its open and declared support for
the Iraqi resistance. This drive to impose the tyrannical
Patriot act on Europe was expressed in the letter of the 44
US congressmen to the Italian ambassador to Washington
demanding to make an example by banning the Anti-imperialist
Camp thus dismantling national sovereignty as well as
international law. The latter stipulates that resistance
including armed one against foreign occupation is legitimate
according to  51 of the UN charter while the US and the
Americanist forces around the world try to depict the
popular resistance against their usurping empire as
"terrorism".
We are faced with a deja-vu: also the arrests of three
leaders of the Anti-imperialist Camp on April 1, 2004, and
the ensuing indictment for terrorism have ended up in the
same limbo. They had to be released despite the objection of
the prosecutor and their processes still did not start
because they know that the amalgam constructed will not
hold.
While we are celebrating the victory in one battle the
struggle is continuing. In the case of Emanuale Fanesi the
public prosecutor will certainly go into cassation.
At the same time the battle with the Italian foreign
minister over the conference "Leave Iraq in peace -- support
the legitimate resistance of the Iraqi people" is raging.
Abiding by the order in the letter of the 44 US congress
members, who had asked to impede the conference, Fini
blocked the visas for the Iraqi participants. As reaction
the Italian Free Iraq Committee has started a hunger strike
in front of the foreign ministry on August 31to get the
visas issued. Among the seven hunger strikers there is also
Emanuale Fanesi.
An September 2 the Free Iraq Committee requested visa for
Haj Ali to speak at the conference, the man tortured in Abu
Ghraib depicted with the hood and the electrodes. If Fini
rejects also this request for "security reasons" even the
last fool will understand what American-type democracy
means.

2) Occupation continues and so must Solidarity International
Solidarity Delegation to Palestine successfully concluded
An International Solidarity Delegation headed by the
Antiimperialist Camp was travelling through Palestine from
August 14 to 28. Main purpose of the delegation named
ÂCracks in the Wall was to convey a message of solidarity
to the Palestinian peoples struggle and the resistance
movement in its entirety thus opposing the accusations of
terrorism. During the trip the delegation had the
possibility to meet with representatives of almost every
organisation of the Palestinian resistance. Among them were
the General Secretary of the PFLP, Ahmed Saadat in Jericho
prison, the leader of the political wing of Hamas in the
West Bank, Scheikh Hassan Abu Yussuf, and also the leader of
the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, Zacharia Zoubeideh. Beside
them the participants of the delegation had the opportunity
to speak to political figures on the social and municipal
level, like the vice-mayor of Qualquilya  as the elected
mayor is in prison under administrative detention-, the
mayor of Betlehem close to PFLP, and the secretary of Fatah
of the Betlehem area. The trip did also include Nazareth,
which is located in the 1948 occupied territories, but still
has a high percentage of Palestinians living there. There
the delegation had a meeting with Abnaa al Balad, which is a
Palestinian organisation working inside the state of Israel,
representing the Palestinians with Israeli citizenship and
Jews who strive for a peace with justice. There the
delegation had the possibility through visiting destroyed
Arab villages to get a glimpse of what Palestinian reality
is like in the state of Israel today.

3) Release them all!
Iraqi Association of the Victims of American Occupation
Prisons on the recent prisoner releases
The Association of the Victims of American Occupation
Prisons (1h1050 NGO) was founded by Haj Ali, the former
mayor of Abu Ghraib and the victim of US torture depicted on
the photograph with the hood and the electrodes.
If the released were not accused, and their condemnation was
not proved, then who will give them back their rights of the
physical and psychological damages caused by the detaining?
There are some who described the releasing as a bargain for
the entrance of specific parties in the political process
what made their releasing as a cheap inadmissible bargain by
the right of the detainees.
The Iraqi security forces launch campaigns of detention
particularly targeting the detainees released from the
American occupation prisons. Will the government guarantee
the safety of those released?

4) Hunger strike to render Iraqi resistance conference in
Italy possible
- From August 31, 2005, the Free Iraq Committees Italy started
a hunger strike in front of the Italian Foreign Ministry in
order to force Minister Fini to release the visas for the
Iraqi invitees to the conference "Leave Iraq in peace --
support the legitimate resistance of the Iraqi people".
While speaking of "security" he gave a clear political
motivation as the representatives would promote the cause of
the Iraqi resistance. Thus he obeyed -- in violation of the
elementary democratic right to free expression -- to the
demand of 44 US congress members having asked the Italian
govt to impede the conference.
