goes so much farther than these people {many of whom i know
personally} and Grenada as such.It is an example of US Big
Stick domination.These friends of mine just happened to get
in the way---many others were interrogated and

APPEAL FROM COMMITTEE FOR HUMAN RIGHTS IN GRENADA (UK)

We desperately need your help:

On behalf of the Grenada 17, the Committee for Human rights
in Grenada (UK) need to raise approximately *13,000 in the
next few months to enable the 17 to take their legal case on
*Matters of the Constitution* to the Privy Council in
London.

* The Grenada 17 have been incarcerated in Richmond Hill
* Prison since 1983.

* They were all captured by US invading forces in an
invasion condemned by the UN General Assembly as a violation
of international law.

* Despite their POW status many of the members of the
Grenada 17 were tortured Abu Grahib and Guantanamo style and
forced to sign false confessions.

* A US psychological warfare battalion was unleashed on
Grenada. They launched a multi million dollar propaganda
campaign to destroy the characters of the Grenada 17 and to
frame them on charges of murder so as to justify the
invasion in the minds of Grenadians and world public
opinion.

* Against the backdrop of all pervasive adverse pre-trial
publicity the Grenada 17 were tried for murder in a show
trial financed by the US.

* Despite strenuous protest from the Grenada 17, the forced
confessions extracted from several of them while they were
prisoners of war were admitted into evidence as *voluntarily
provided* and used as the basis of their conviction.
Patently false evidence was used to convict the members of
the Grenada 17 who were leaders of the Grenada Revolution.

* The Grenada 17 have always strenuously protested their
innocence and believe if they had had a free and fair trial
they would be free people today.

* They have sought relief from the OAS IACHR. That court has
ruled that the United States violated the rights of members
of the Grenada 17 and has called on the US to make amends.
The US has refused.

* Amnesty International, as well as many legal experts, have
openly criticized the trial and its countless
irregularities, stating that the trial was *Fatally Flawed*
and did not meet international standards governing fairness
of trials.

* In March 2003 the High Court in Grenada ruled that the
constitutional rights of the Grenada 17 were indeed
violated. That ruling could have led to the prompt release
of the Grenada 17. However, the Government of Grenada
appealed and got the decision reversed.

* The Privy Council is Grenada*s final court.

In light of the above we are making an urgent appeal for
your help to help us raise the money needed for the 17 to
take their case to the Privy Council.

Please give generously and forward this e-mail on to your
friends and associate organisations appealing for them to do
the same in the name of international truth & justice.
