Just got back into town myself and I have no clue what's up or down with
Hersch or whether he's wittingly or unwittingly being manipulated by someone
at a high level. As you point out, this is a deliberate leak, which is
really what I was suggesting. The question is by whom and for what purpose?
Is it to pre-empt an attack on Iraq by disclosing the real plan so or is it
just a red herring?
As you said, if higher ups want to leak information, he's the go-to guy.
If there's a power struggle going on - between whom is the power struggle?
