Re: [A-List] In memory of Bob Everton

To those on the A List: I have tried and will probably try again to talk
about Bob, but I fear that all of my attempts will fail.

He survived being in a soccer stadium under Pinochet and came out thinking
that everyday was a gift to help him and all of us build a world "really
worth being alive in", and I know, without a single hesitation, that he
belived it, every second.

I'm going to stop. Just to say that few people both encouraged me more and
taught me better as to what it is to be a revolutionary not on paper, but on
how you live your life. He was a tireless agitator for everything worth
agitating for.

I loved him and will be fortunate enough to see his memorial in Vancouver as
I arrive for the week. I also had the rare pleasure of seeing him off
properly; I had a "good bye" party when I moved to Montreal, and Bob, warmly
as was always his way, hugged me firmly at the end of the party. Would that
I knew what value to put on that hug.

Bob Everton, presente!
We need you, companero, where the hell do you think you are going?
you said yourself: we are only a whisker from a real world...

and no offense Sabri,
but peace was the last thing Bob would have wanted.

Today I learned with great sadness that a longtime "virtual" friend, Bob
Everton of Vancouver, Canada, passed away. I came to know Bob through our
participation in organizing November 30, 1999 Global Day of Action and our
virtual "friendship" continued for many years after that. A memorial for Bob
Everton will take place - Thursday, December 23rd at 6 pm - Glenhaven
Memorial Chapel in Vancouver and below is a memorial website for Bob:

I will never forget him.

May he rest in peace.
