Re: [A-List] Melvin

I have never voluntarily withdrawn from any list, but have been
"unsubbed" from a few as a one-side punishment from the moderators.
I have never suggested that anyone should be "unsubbed" from any list.
I did not complain about the hostile language and racist behavior of my
attackers, I merely counterattacked and was punished for it while my
attackers enjoyed immunity.

As a gesture of protest, I will refrain from posting further until
Melvin is resubbed to the A-list.

As for unsavory language, it's all culturally relative.
While I myself employ language very different from that used by Melvin,
I have never found his use of profanity offensive. On the other hand,
every time I hear Donald Trump uses the word "amazing" on television, I
cringe.

My suggestion is: Bring Melvin back for the benefit of all of us.

Henry, your presence here is much valued. So, too, was Melvin's. However,
Melvin took exception to the presence of others on the list who otherwise
fufilled the minimal requirements for membership. And, considering your own
justified complaints regarding the conduct of certain individuals on other
lists over the years, it's a surprise to read you saying this. Think back to
the baiting and ridicule you have received on, e.g., PEN-L. That sort of
practice would not be allowed here, for the good reason that most would find
it deeply offensive. You have chosen to vacate lists where you feel your
presence is no longer appreciated. In the interests of you and everyone else
remaining on this list and contributing to it, Melvin's conduct cannot be
acceptable. I would gladly bring Melvin back for the benefit of *all* of us,
but not until he is prepared to accept Lou Proyect as one of us.

ps Re Donald Trump, viewers of his show "The Apprentice" may be interested
to learn that Trump Hotels filed for Chapter 11 two weeks ago.
