Sabri has my full support. The comments by Lou P and Jim C are absolutely
spot on. Whatever capital Melvin accumulated has been squandered in this
latest series of outbursts, which appear to be a spillover from debates on
PEN-L. I regret this, not because Melvin is an African American, but because
he represents a voice unique on any of the lists with which I'm familiar. I
owe him much in introducing me to new writers and perspectives. However his
inability to accept the goodwill, indeed the presence, of Lou Proyect, makes
him incapable of remaining a member here. That is a choice that he has
forced upon us.
