Re: [A-List] James Petras on Beslan - fire away

Melvin

I am not a Marxist, but on this issue I agree with you profoundly.

The attack on the Russian children and their parents in Beslan touched me
deeply, partly because of my own personal history.

This was an attack on Russia, certainly. But it was more than that. It was
an attack on civilisation. It was an attack on what it means to be human.
Our children are young and vulnerable for many years and it is built into us
to look after them and feed them and comfort them. This is what being human
means.

What the perpetrators did in Beslan was evil and inhuman. The Russian
government has no choice, but to improve security and try to hunt the
organisers down.

The cause these child killers hoped to promote now has a shadow over it - a
shadow that will darken over time. They chose unwisely.

Salaam

Nevertheless . . . Beslan . . . the hostage taking and murder of
children
is avoided by the "left ideological frontmen" of the imperial bourgeoisie
and
presented as a colonial question and anti-colonial actions and this is not
the case. <<
