Re: [A-List] Turkey & the EU
Bob,
Turkey at the moment is paralysed because of the
international obligations, agreements and
organizations she signed or joined. The latest of all
is the hopless EU campaign. NATO, IMF and the World
Bank are the others. US has a very great infuence on
Turkey in every aspect you can think of .( Military,
economy, politics, media, education etc.) The contents
of the agreements signed by the US after WWII even
today are not well known by the public.
Military agreements with Israel are the natural result
of the above mentioned relationships.
When George Soros came to Turkey 1 or 2 years ago he
said to a group of Turkish businessmen : "The best
export product of Turkey is her army".
People of Turkey do not want to be the soldiers of
imperialism. But some facts are very well hidden or
deceived by the media. Besides because of the economic
crisis most people think of nothing but how to make
ends meet at the end of the month.
I think:
Turkey should get out of NATO. Turkey should stop
paying her domestic and foreign depts and set a new
schedule for dept payment. All the US military bases
must be closed. Turkey should end the EU campaign ,
(which does nothing but hopelessly tie her to the
West) and should start a new kind of relationship
with the EU . Turkey should increase its relations ,
with Iran, Syria, Russia, China , India, Venezuella,
Cuba, Argentina and the like.
