Re: [A-List] Part 1 A Marxist Exposition on Man and Environment.

"The materialist conception of history starts from the proposition that the
production of the means to support human life and, next to production, the
exchange of things produced, is the basis of all social structure; that in every
society that has appeared in history, the manner in which wealth is distributed
and society divided into classes or orders is dependent upon what is
produced, how it is produced, and how the products are exchanged. From this point of
view, the final causes of all social changes and political revolutions are to
be sought, not in men's brains, not in men's better insights into eternal truth
and justice, but in changes in the modes of production and exchange. They are
to be sought, not in the philosophy, but in the economics of each particular
epoch."

Engels: p://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1880/soc-utop/ch03.htm

A spectre is haunting earth - the spectre of Communism. All the old powers
and state structures of earth have entered into Holy Alliances to exercise this
spectre. The custodians of bourgeois property attempt realignment. From the
Pope to the "duped" and doped, from the proletarian hick to the bourgeois
trick; from the bourgeois intellectual sinner to the socialists grinner. The Marx
Prophecy has been declared dead so many times that its repeated arising
surpasses that of Jesus.

The thirty year assault on revolutionary Marxism converges on the question of
environment. What is new in the social/political environment is the world
wide communist class. Here is a new class outside of active engagement with
production. This mass of humanity is incapable of reproducing itself on the basis
of the sell of its labor power. Only a social degenerate - the bourgeoisie, can
turn a blind eye to over three billion people.

The blind eye can see and pose the question as overpopulation - again and
again, and the limits of earths natural resources. Over population is never posed
as a question involving the exploiting and oppressing peoples in the imperial
centers. Never! See . . . "the great unwashed" - the world communist class,
is under intense ideological assault. Hundreds of thousands of earth's
intellectuals are drawn into the ideological vortex of the insurgent bourgeoisie.

It is high time that the insurgent Marxists should openly - in the face of
massive and unrelenting assault, accept the challenge of history and take the
militant bourgeoisie to the ideological mat.

The communists in China are endowed with the instinctual solution to the
social questions of overpopulation and over consumption, which takes the
appearance in bourgeois society as the finite character of natural resources. It is an
act of political insanity for a communist worker in the most imperial of all
imperial corners of earth to lecture the world's people, much less the
communist of China, on any subject. It is however our communist duty to indicate our
intentions and thinking concerning burning social questions.

We imperial workers are part of the world's problem. This is not altogether a
bad thing because it presupposes a proposition that makes us the solution.
Let us proceed to the solution and the irreducible element in the equation.

Human history presupposes the existence of human beings. No materialists or
sane person would disagree with this observation. On the level of theory, human
beings arise before the emergence of history and as the precondition for the
emergence of history. Engels exposition can be read to mean that history
begins with "the production of the means to support human life and . . . the
exchange of things produced, (and upon this basis) social structure; (and) society
(emerges).

Before the emergence of society man exists. Man predates tools and
instruments, the material fabric of history. Without this proposition, consumption,
over-consumption, over population and various expositions on the principles of
thermodynamics, as well as man as environment remain incomprehensible. Man exists
in an environment as an interactive component of the environment. Man is/as
environment. The conception of "man and environment" is mechanistic logic and
as far as philosophy is concerned can be called a conception displaying the
metaphysics of properties.

The circle of philosophy that industrial man was unable to escape is self
contained. This is why escape has eluded countless generations. Individuals
throughout history have escaped the philosophic formulations of reality, but never
a class. One must remember that Karl Marx and Frederick Engels effected the
great escape. They formed the beach head through which millions of slaves of
capital have escaped and continue to escape.

"Rally Comrades for the Last Fight We Face. The International Shall be the
Human Race."

The destruction of philosophy is at hand. This requires the unfolding of the
obvious. This presupposes an acute power of observation.

All philosophy - including Marxism as philosophy, is an inescapable
historically evolved form of insanity. It is unacceptable to critique Marx method,
exposition and conclusions simple on the basis of its "European heritage." Marx
labored during the era of the rise of industrial man as the fundamentality and
not "European man."

What is required to escape philosophy is an acute power of observation and an
act of will, within a societal framework where sufficient means of production
exists to allow a class to escape philosophy. The logic seems to appear as a
circle from which there is no escape. One must see the communist class in its
actual relationship in a system of production. On what basis will this great
unwashed be feed, clothed, sheltered and educated?

There are only two possible solutions. To recast the means of production into
a configuration for the purpose of continuous extermination of billions of
people or to reconfigure the material power of production to service the rising
minimum needs of billions. Did not Marx himself inscribe on our banner the
revolutionary slogan of "need"? "To each according to his/their need."

Privilege allows one to ascertain the meaning of need. I am a privileged
worker in the most imperial of all imperial centers. Fate cast me in the
intractable social position. The specifics of history demand that exposition assume the
form of personal narrative. Pardon if "I" get in the way. There is no other
path available.

"Need" means meeting the nutritional requirements of homo-sapiens as
individual and collective and their shelter, educational and spiritual striving.
Science has to be deployed to meet "needs." Science alone discloses and solves the
question of scarcity or meeting our nutritional needs that sustain life. We
are not to reproduce industrial society "at a higher level" or what is in fact
an industrial mode of production.

In the "Holy Family" Marx formulates - presents as exposition, the dialectic
of destruction of a class and philosophy. In Marx published "notes/notebook or
outline" - "The Grundrisse," there are sections on "Consumption and
Production," "Distribution and Production," and "Population, Overpopulation, and
Malthus."

Marx "Contribution to the Critique of Hegel's Philosophy of Right -
Introduction, is instructive.

"It is, therefore, the task of history, once the other-world of truth has
vanished, to establish the truth of this world. It is the immediate task of
philosophy, which is in the service of history, to unmask self-estrangement in its
unholy forms once the holy form of human self-estrangement has been unmasked.
Thus, the criticism of Heaven turns into the criticism of Earth, the criticism
of religion into the criticism of law, and the criticism of theology into the
criticism of politics."

What is the truth of the world or woman as human being? Truth is relative
and historical and inseparable from a given state of development of the
productive forces. Truth emerges on the basis of facts but the human drama unfolds on
the basis of tripping over the feet of facts.

Marx expositions must not be confused with his method and continuous
reexamination of the feet of facts. Communist insurgents are condemned in history to
pinpoint and quote their master as the framework of discourse. He who claims to
have no master during the unfolding of history as class antagonism is an
exploiter and liar. We communist workers quote scripture, as do all peoples and
individuals. Scripture contain historical conceptions and not simply
definitions. A return to Marx in unavoidable.

"Meanwhile, once modern politico-social reality itself is subjected to
criticism, once criticism rises to truly human problems, it finds itself outside the
German status quo, or else it would reach out for its object below its
object. An example. The relation of industry, of the world of wealth generally, to
the political world is one of the major problems of modern times. In what form
is this problem beginning to engage the attention of the Germans? In the form
of protective duties, of the prohibitive system, or national economy.
Germanomania has passed out of man into matter, and thus one morning our cotton barons
and iron heroes saw themselves turned into patriots. People are, therefore,
beginning in Germany to acknowledge the sovereignty of monopoly on the inside
through lending it sovereignty on the outside. People are, therefore, now about
to begin, in Germany, what people in France and England are about to end. The
old corrupt condition against which these countries are revolting in theory,
and which they only bear as one bears chains, is greeted in Germany as the
dawn of a beautiful future which still hardly dares to pass from crafty theory to
the most ruthless practice. Whereas the problem in France and England is:
Political economy, or the rule of society over wealth; in Germany, it is:
National economy, or the mastery of private property over nationality. In France and
England, then, it is a case of abolishing monopoly that has proceeded to its
last consequences; in Germany, it is a case of proceeding to the last
consequences of monopoly. There is an adequate example of the German form of modern
problems, an example of how our history, like a clumsy recruit, still has to do
extra drill on things that are old and hackneyed in history." (Ibid)

The presentation of any real social question affecting real human beings by
definition does not pose itself in its irreducible unit, because the
irreducible unit is woman, after she has erected an edifice of social structures that is
the meaning of the word "history."

The solution slowly emerges. "(W)oman, after she has erected . . .
'history.'" Have you by chance explored prehistory and the logic of human existence
before the insanity or rather means of production come into existence and
philosophy emerges? Presupposing "man" is not a mistake, but a scientific proposition
worth examining. Herein resides the secret to consumption at its genesis.
Herein resides the irreducible unit.

The problem of history is complex to he who has not entered the forbidden
chambers. One is required to jump from the corner of the earth into the unknown.
Materialism - the materiality of world is not enough because it remains an
abstraction as exposition, conceived on the basis of philosophy.

The philosophy of man was spun by the man of philosophy. Philosophy will give
way to the man without philosophy. One must seek out and find this man and he
existed before the emergence of history. This sought after "man" is of the
ancient and distant past and the distant future that is constructed and fought
for in the here and now.

Marx was of course German and liberated his cranium from that which was the
German in his day and time. There is another level of liberation opened to all
of us at this point in the time stream.

It gets "phat" and heavy from here/hear. There shall be no compromise in the
presentation of the social question of our time. One must embrace the inevita
ble death as the sought after "girl next door" to understand life, "the girl"
and "next door." One must understand the story of the "boy who chased the girl
until she caught him."

"German philosophy of right and state is the only German history which is al
pari ["on a level"] with the official modern present. The German nation must
therefore join this, its dream-history, to its present conditions and subject
to criticism not only these existing conditions, but at the same time their
abstract continuation. Its future cannot be limited either to the immediate
negation of its real conditions of state and right, or to the immediate
implementation of its ideal state and right conditions, for it has the immediate negation
of its real conditions in its ideal conditions, and it has almost outlived
the immediate implementation of its ideal conditions in the contemplation of
neighboring nations.
Hence, it is with good reason that the practical political part in Germany
demands the negation of philosophy.

It is wrong, not in its demand but in stopping at the demand, which it
neither seriously implements nor can implement. It believes that it implements that
negation by turning its back to philosophy and its head away from it and
muttering a few trite and angry phrases about it. Owing to the limitation of its
outlook, it does not include philosophy in the circle of German reality or it
even fancies it is beneath German practice and the theories that serve it. You
demand that real life embryos be made the starting-point, but you forget that
the real life embryo of the German nation has grown so far only inside its
cranium. In a word - You cannot abolish philosophy without making it a reality."
(Ibid)

"You demand that real life . . . be made the starting-point, but you forget .
. . real life . . . has grown . . . inside its cranium. You cannot abolish
philosophy without making it a reality."

Here is the solution for Christ sake! What is it that determines the health
of the cranium? Means of production or the material power of the productive
forces is not the answer because this implies we are talking about the growing
capacity to reproduce something already in existence. The solution is too
obvious to understand.

It shall be stated a thousand times and daily - hourly if necessary, that
the communist revolution is the most radical in human "His-story." Is not "his
story" an exposition on the means of production or what is in fact the material
power of the production forces as driven by insane - ignorant, men? Ignorance
is a lack of understanding of law systems that govern processes or a given
process.

Shift happens.

We have entered the chambers of history and confront the thousand doors. What
door do you choose? Here is why the materialists of the industrial era -
(industrial man) or the epoch of the bourgeoisie, are challenged to jump from the
corner of the earth into the unknown. The irreducible unit must be man himself
- without means of production. One must enter pre-history to understand
history. One must conceptually "leap" beyond history - barbarism, while carrying
all of history in ones wake, to unravel the history one seeks to defeat.

In prehistory there is no material power of production and this fact -
actuality, breaths life into the functioning of means of production. In the
communist future - two thousand years from now, history as class antagonism, has been
abolished. History in this meaning is society as it moves in class antagonism.
Man consciously welds means of production in the future. The operative word
is "consciously" and demands definition. Awareness is not the meaning of
consciousness. Homo-sapiens are always aware to one degree or another. Consciousness
means applied mastery of law systems and it is this application that verifies
mastery as it oscillates from the absurd to the less absurd.

The destruction of wealth sits on the horizon.

I shall tell you that the solution appears as the problem and the problem is
materially real. Poverty or scarcity is posed as the problem of human
existence. Scarcity contains a very human mental dimension. Scarcity means the absence
or inability to secure life affirming substance. Means of production comes
into existence to solve - partially, the problem of scarcity. Today we face a
fundamental resolution and reformulation of the historic question of scarcity.

The solution appears as the problem.

The solution is poverty and you will not understand because you possess
wealth. Your wealth is minuscule to that of our modern bourgeoisie but it is a form
of wealth in your cranium. Wealth is a form of domination - according to
Marx. Must I quote the master on every sentence?

The question, answer and solution is nutrition. And overcoming wrong
consumption. To live society has to stop eating what you and everyone else calls food.
Then the means of production can be refashioned on another basis. Bourgeois
property reproduces the historic distortion. The extreme polarization of wealth
and destitution has to be looked at without philosophic concepts. Gluttony
and lack of nutrition exists in unity and strife with starvation and lack of
nutrition.

Modern science alone is capable of the mass detoxifying of man. The solution
to every problem on earth is in the earth by definition. Political forms are
just that, manifestations of something else.

The battle to enter history - real conscious history, is not preordained and
can be lost. One way or another industrial man must be slain if the earth is
to survive. The genesis of the environmental crisis begins with man and inside
of the environment that is man.
