I appreciate Sabri re-activating this proposal. I
for one, had to miss out on the readings last year, and would appreciate the
stimulus, and have ordered the book, even though I still do not have much
time.
I would suggest that it is not so much a conflict
of interest as a conflict of perception. When you have written something a long
time ago it is sometimes difficult without re-reading to approach it new. It
would be quite adequate for Michael to read one of his chapters, and say in an
introductory paragraph what the main points were that he was trying to get
across, (plus any afterthoughts if he wishes)
Then I would have thought few comments in response
on this list would have the character of "judge and jury".
People could post a comment on an aspect of the
theme in the chapter, particularly if it stimulates them to read or reread the
chapter.
It requires only a time keeper, to
announce each move on to the next chapter, and Michael H's willingness then
to submit a paragraph, for it to work through. No?
