Michael:  These arguments for conscription are well-known, and certainly do
advance against the alleged desirability of "an army of volunteers," which
is really heavily-bribed young people with few options for a variety of
reasons.  However, both approaches justify the modern poison of large,
standing armies - which is something I can not support, and which the
American founders argued against, meaning conscription ultimately stands in
opposition to the interests of a free people whose young become militarily
enserfed due to the always-coercive, parasitic central state's desire for a
large, standing army.  -A.
