Good summary Henry. And you are right: Turkey failed not because it did
not follow the neo-liberal recipe well but precisely because it followed
the neo-liberal recipe too well. Turkey has been the best and the most
obedient student of the IMF. One of my friends recently likened the
IMF-Turkey relationship to a marriage between an abusive husband and his
wife: after each abuse, the wife returned to the abusive husband hoping
that the past abuse was the last but each time the husband got even more
abusive.

When will the wife be able to leave the abusive husband?
