Re: [A-List] Re: COUP d' ETAT IN WASHINGTON
Dear Sabri,
If I had to choose who the "real" Christians were today (assuming I wouldn't simply say the Marxists, as Karl Kautsky did), I would say groups like CCMJ -- the Christian Campaign for Monetary Justice, organized by my friend Canon Peter Challen in London. He is promoting monetary reform by a group that meets in the House of Lords, sponsored by a Labour Party member who has collected a number of Christians around him.
I also have hope for the new Archbishop of Canterbury, who has many illustrious predecessors. (A good Christian was Mathew Paris back in the 13th century, whose Annals detail the financial rapacity of his age.)
On the continent, I'd add Dante, of course, and Luther in his early anti-usury stage.
Perhaps the predecessor to the current Pope would have done good things. The papacy was beginning to back a good liberation theology, until the present pope inverted all this good work and replaced it with the Opus Dei movement.
NOT Christian are Rev. Moon, the televangelists cited by Anne, etc. I'm sure she feels about them like I do about people who call Stalin a Marxist.
