I agree with Michael's commentary, we do not have a free media in this country anymore, and along with our campiagn finance structure, Congress is beyond repair. I honestly beleive that Congress is scared of this administration and its backers.
We have become a society of igornant, complacent, and very often rightwing ideologues. Our media is largely to blame. Perhaps that is why former VP Al Gore is considering the creation of a liberal (ie. moderate) news station to counter the rightwing media we have. I recall that he stated categorically last year that our current media is a "threat to our democarcy." Thomas Jeffeson said that if we lost our free press, democracy would fail...
