[A-List] (Forward from Nestor) Argentina: recovered plants
Dear Sabri:
What follows is an announcement of an "Encounter of students,
teachers and independent professionals with workers of the
Recovered Plants" to be held on Friday 27 next in Buenos Aires. I
think it is valuable in itself as a testimony, and also because
it gives an interesting approach to the range of activities that
these plants cover.
The encounter seems a non-sectarian one (hope it will actually be
non sectarian, one never knows with some guys). BTW: it is good
news to see among the participants the Brukman workers, who under
the counsel of some ultra-left groups had been cornered, but now
seem to be finding a way out of the cul de sac by accepting the
cooperative solution that the City Government had offered and
they had rejected because they wanted full state ownership with
workers control. Perhaps the wisdom of actual workers can, this
time, overcome the recklesness -on other peoples´ jobs- of some
conductions.
It is interesting to see who are calling for the meeting: the
Center of Students of Engineering and the Center of Students of
Architecture and Design, together with the National Movement for
Recovered Plants and the local Union of Teachers at the School of
Engineering. The School of Engineering of the University of
Buenos Aires itself is sponsoring the meeting.
Among the factories which will take part, many have been
recovered with active participation of the union "bureaucratic"
leaderships such as: the metalworkers union in the case of the
plant of Renacer (formerly Aurora-Grundig) in the southernmost
city of the world, Ushuaia; the naval workers union in the case
of the Admiral Brown Cooperative (former SANYM shipyard); the
metal workers union in the case of the La Baskonia foundry, and
others.
If I am not wrong, the Centers of Students that organize the
meeting have a strong relationship with the Partido Comunista
Revolucionario (PCR), the Maoists of Argentina.
