It is with a very heavy heart that I have to inform you that Mark died
on Wednesday. I phoned a very distraught Natalya yesterday, and she
told me that Mark had passed away quite suddenly, having already made
a reasonably good recovery from his earlier bout of illness in
February. However he was comfortable, and before he died he asked
Natalya that each of us would be given his best regards.
This evening Natalya phoned to say that I should now start informing
people on the lists, putting together some sort of obituary notice for
the benefit of his internet friends and comrades. I'll put together
something for distribution on Monday, but right now I thought you
would like to know. Funeral details will be confirmed later, but it is
expected that a service will take place during the week of 21-28
April. Natalya sounds much more composed today, but is in the process
of trying to contact all those who need to be contacted, a long and
distressing task.
We are a part of his legacy, for which we can give thanks.
