Just a note to say thank you to all who have given notes of support for our
upcoming struggle in court in Lethbridge, Alberta on April 8th. I'll be
leaving for Blackfoot Country in a few hours and will not be back for a
week. At the Blackfeet Rez at Browning, there have been demonstrations
against both the war and "Tribal" corruption for the last week. All the
tribal cops have been fired replaced with BIA cops (however much I detest
the tribal cops, all corruption has been known and tolerated/supported by
BIA for a long time). Several of the current tribal council members are now
under federal indictment but this has given new impetus to those Blackfoot
who want to solve our problems totally free of any involvement of the Feds.
At the Kanai Blackfoot Rez at Cardston, Alberta the current tribal council
members, the corrupt ones, are under seige from activists there and at the
Apatohsipiikani Blackfoot Reserve at Brocket (mine) two activists have
gotten on to the Tribal Council pushing for abolition of the whole Tribal
Council and refusal to participate in any way under the Indian Act.
There promises to be a large turnout of Blackfoot for our courtcase in
Lethbridge and the Crown Prosecutor has taken to sending us "precedents" in
case law (all under the Indian Act)to try to make Bella cop a plea--claiming
we don't have a chance. Of course our sights are set on other venues.
Also, for those who have written letters of support for my situation at
Clark, thank you all so much. I just spoke with our uniion president this
morning who tells me that the procedural and contractual errors that the
Clark administration has committed are so numerous not even one of those
super Kray computers the NSC uses to monitor global communications could
calculate them all. Thanks so much to all of you.
Hope to be in touch soon,
Thanks again,
Jim
