Dear Students

Over the past few months our office has hosted information sessions on
SEVIS, the new electronic tracking system mandated by the U.S. federal
government to monitor international students and exchange visitors. Our
ability to continue to enroll international students at the University
of Wisconsin-Madison rests on our ability to work with you to provide
accurate information to the SEVIS system. We are writing to you because
our office is committed to doing whatever we can to help you remain in
legal immigration status while achieving your educational and personal
goals. To help our office offset the high resource costs associated with
this new system, the University will require an International Services
Fee of $50.00 per semester (and $25.00 if you enroll in the summer). The
fee will first be assessed for the Fall 2003-04 semester and will appear
on your tuition bill.

International Student Services (ISS) will continue to host informational
sessions on SEVIS. We strongly encourage you to attend at least one of
these sessions. In addition, you are encouraged to meet with an ISS
advisor if you anticipate any changes in your status or to your academic
program. Updates are provided regularly through the ISS Bytes and on our
website at www.intstudents.wisc.edu.

The UW-Madison campus is extremely fortunate that we can continue to
welcome international students to our community. Know that your presence
is valued.

Thank you
