Your M. Chirac might also mention that
without the French Fleet under De Grasse and its victory over Graves at the
Chesapeake in 1881, there would have been no British surrender at Yorktown.
Or that in the war of 1812, the US also enjoyed the support of
France,enabling her ships to cruise in the Channel.....tripling insurance
rates on British cargos.
