I'm glad this ugly, potentially dangerous episode is being cleared up, but I
doubt it would ever have happened had ANSWER not been so unfairly attacked
for so long by The Nation magazine, by people on the Portside list, by
Common
Dreams, by Terri Gross on NPR and others.

One can disagree with WWP or its coalition partners on a number of issues,
but
surely there is much to admire about them. There is no good excuse for the
fact that so few people and organizations came to their defense against the
intense redbaiting campaign directed at them. We have better things to do
than fight among ourselves, and if different kinds of progressives compete
for attention, that's entirely okay as long as we all keep in mind who the
real enemies are.
