[A-List] Re: [A-List] Re: [A-List] Re: [A-List] Fw: COMPARTY: Korea Statement - Déclaration de la Corée

Christopher,
Sadly, you could be right.

Tariq,

It is clear that the US has stirred the pot in the Korean Peninisula becuase it is afraid that the new gorvernment in Seoul and the Korean people want to come to an accomodation and also want to eject US forces from Korea. The US has deliberately stirred things up to prevent the loss of their position there and their ability to threaten not only North Korea but their main enemy China. I don,t think what they are doing is clumsy. I think it is has been carefully thought through and carried out to keep everybody off-balance so they can remain in the peninsula.

The confrontation that has arisen between DPRK and USA at a time when the US is making all preparation for an attack of Iraq seems as a clumsy gesture by the US. No power however, great would like to add to the magnitude of hostility against wonself, unless it is either arrogant or very unwise. Whatever is the case it is very threatening to world peace.

The US has picked to take a row with North Korea when the government in South Korea is most pro-north. It is addidly an unopportune moment.

One could guess, the US alienated North Korea by naming her as one of the odd 20 countries against whose nationals strict measure are resorted to,  for the reason to include at least one non-Muslim country to the list, otherwise wholy Muslim, so that the US drive does not appear entirely  Muslim specific. It is another dim witted action to embroil the US deeper into the morass of her own making.

Although the US is following a different policy in dealing with North Korea than in case of Iraq, a usual duplicity of aprpoach, yet not much is being done to ease the situation in East Asia before the Iraq issue gets settled.

It shall not seem unlikely that other hot points may erupt while the build up for attack on Iraq is continuing. As yet the US can count on forming a coalition of the willing, which will include western and despotic Muslim countries. And at the same time UNO and other international agencies such as IAEA are complying to her bidding, but for how long? Some may question, who after all is in command of the whole affair and whose interests if are being served?

Will South Korea and other neighbouring Asian countries like Arabs, also smile at the dagger that slaughter their brother and knowing their turn is just next?

Tariq
