Re: [A-List] Fw: RENSE.COM The United States Of America Has Gone Mad

Tariq,

I don't think that the war is driven by greed although there is no doubt
that the people encouraging it are greedy. The drive to seize the oil fields
of the middle east once and for all is fueled not by greed but by economic
necessity for the capitalists of the United States. The US economy is in
trouble for a number of reasons but the first and foremost is the
overproduction of everything into a saturated market and the consequent
decline in the rate of profit. The rate of profits in general has been
falling for a long time and this has sparked a number of recessions but the
present circumstances are rapidly deteriorating and this will be much worse
if the United States industrial base does not have a source of cheap oil
available. The US production can no longer do it alone. This has been clear
for years.

The rivalry between the European Union especially Germany and France with
the United States and the similar rivalry between Japan and the US and China
in the near future; the rivalry for control of the shrinking markets (and
they are shrinking becuase the workers - called "consumers" by the mass
media- have less and less money to buy the produts being made as the
capitalist, driven by competition slash labour costs to increase profit
margins in the short term.), this rivalry is leading to the war. The US
intends to gain the advantage of its rivals by putting a stanglehold on the
oilfields of the middle east from which Japan gets over 90% of its oil and
the EU the larger share of its oil. By seizing the oilfields the capitalists
of the EU and Japan are at the mercy of those in the USA and Britain as
well.

The war on Iraq is not really a war on Iraq although Iraq and its people
will sufer the immediate consequences. It is in fact a war on the EU and
Japan. It is the beginning of the third world war. The United States is in
reality attacking the economic interests of the EU and Japan, is threatening
their entire economies. This is the first phase of the war by the US on its
economic rivals and it appears many in Europe at least are very aware of
this. This war may simmer for awhile after Iraq (whatever happens in the
end) but it has begun.

It is not a war about greed. It is a war created by necessity by a system
which can only exist through and by war. Clausewitz said war is politics by
other means but he was not entirely correct; war is economics by other means
and this war is a supreme and logical expression of the competition among
capitalists for the smaller and smaller pieces of a smaller and smaller pie
withiut which the entire profit system will collapse.

There is only one solution to war and that is an economic system structured
on need and human dignity instead of profit. The capitalists who control
the US government risk world war. But they are unable to do anything else.
The logic of the system drives them to it like lemmings over a cliff. Rosa
Luxembourg gave us the choice in all its starkness and clarity; socialism or
barbarism. It is up to us to make that choice and to answer to our children
for it. There is no third way.

Chris
