1927: 2000 Communists Executed

Shanghai: The victorious moderate faction now in power in Canton is
wreaking terrific vengeance on the Russians for alleged instigation of last
week's Communist coup.  Over 2,000 Russian and Chinese Communists have been
executed and the bodies of those shot down in the streets are still lying
where they fell. No quarter is shown to those who come under the hands of
the counter-revolutionary troops. Among those executed is a large number of
Chinese women and girls.
