Just when I think Bush has executed the "ultimate" in outrageous acts
(Defense of the Homeland, which not only hollows out the Bill of Rights but
also changes the entire structure of the Federal govt, a point not yet
noticed or commented upon publicly), he outdoes himself. A quick check of
pro-Bush websites indicates that even his ill-informed, easily-manipulated
grass roots supporters who label themselves "conservatives" are gape-mouthed
at the news.....yet the tone of The Independent's report does not surprise,
since corporate media has so long sustained Kissinger's undeserved
"statesman" reputation they will - if not eagerly - at least dutifully go
about their current task of reminding the people of Kissinger's
"heavyweight" status.
This move does offer at least an opportunity for a small entertainment, i.e.
the response of Christopher Hitchens. How can the esteemed author continue
supporting Bush, leader of the world's largest and most deeply indebted
corporate state, and his delusional, destructive, opportunistic, and
diversionary War on Terror, after having written a book-length of indictment
of Kissinger as a war criminal?
