Re: [A-List] RE: Us imperialism: Iraq

The most striking feature of US policy in the past year has been its'
relentless, and quite successful, search for enemies.
They have threatened, or frightened just about everybody in the world ,
except Likud.

Although they claim to be building a coalition,
they loudly insist they don't need one.
They have created, or stoked, "crises" all over the world, dismayed
their Arab allies, and published a list of "nukable" countries.
Are these mistakes? Incompetence and heavy-handed blundering?

I think we need to put away the comfortable thought that the Bush
administration is as dumb as it looks.
They haven't done too badly this last year really.
The Bill of
Rights suspended, huge increases in military and spook budgets...no more
pesky international law,
a nice string of bases in the Caspian, a supine Congress, an adoring media:
...pretty good year for a nazi actually, best since 1941.
Now we are coming to the main event, the Mid-East and its oil. All of it,
the ultimate geo-political and financial lever.
They are not going to be turned from the attempt now.
They have done nothing
whatever to meet "world opinion"on any subject. Its' not going to deflect
them from the great prize they have pursued, lo these many years.

The outcome they plan for requires that the whole region be engulfed (to
coin a phrase) in political convulsions
to facilitate and justify its' "re-organization". They don't want Arab
allies, they need instability and shadowy enemies (like al-Qaida) to prepare
the ground for them and for Israel.(what will her share be?)
Doing it almost uni-laterally is good because
it makes for a bigger share of the loot.Perhaps big enough to provide a
defence for the dollar, especially when Saudi oil is "privatized".

It couldn't have been much of a surprise in Washington that Russia, France,
and China objected to their project.
But the US has already made it clear that the post wwII order is dead. "New"
world order now.Russia and China have been called. Veto the US resolution,
destroy the UN, since the US will not be bound by it.

Right now, there is nothing sensible that China, Russia,or Europe can do
to stop them attacking Iraq.

What worries me most, is that the universal aggressiveness that the Empire
is displaying is not justified by her conventional military forces alone.I
think they intend to fill the gap with small nukes, and biological weapons.

Mark quoted a Red Army general comparing this period to 1939-41.
That feels right to me. Apocalypse.
