Re: [A-List] LRNA and energy

League of Revolutionaries for a New America.

http://www.lrna.org/texts/reports/prnc0205.html is the document I remarked
upon.

Good folks, the ones I know. I think they began by trying to find a way
out of the sectarian morass that was the American "left." Very interested
in the impact of information technology on the social base. The people I
know, two are in the non-profit sector, Jerome in Atlanta, and Michelle
(last time I saw her) in DC, and Walda is a sociology professor at Howard
University. Very substantial African-American participation, which is a
refreshing anomoly in US left politics, if you look below the surface of
grouplet "leadership."

I don't think they are unique in this particular brand of myopia, and I
wasn't picking on them. Melvin posted a link to their site, so I commented
on this document. Certainly every other left formation seems equally
reluctant to make the rather substantial accommmodations in their lines
that are necessary to grasp the current nexus of political economy/ecology
and thermodynamics. I really believe the reluctance is based in part on
plain ignorance, which I admit to sharing until Crashlist started removing
the scales from my eyes. There's a real education effort that has to take
place on the left on this, and when it happens, we should be much stronger,
even with the loss of a few religious fanatics who won't look beyond the
boundaries of some of the marxoid cults.

Things are looking good here, on another note. DC on the 26th is shaping
up to be a powerful event. Contrary to the bourg-press horseshit, support
for war is very thin, and the active opposition to it is growing by leaps
and bounds. Our anti-war coalitions here are very broad, and becoming more
focused all the time. Of course, GWB has made up his mind, but any
legitimacy this outfit ever thought it had is rapidly disappearing, and
that's the real long-term strength of the anti-war movement. All the
activity in the street in other continents is invaluable.

This administration is weak, so now's the time to hammer away, from every
direction, and bypass the dealmakers on the Security Council.

most strikingly when we consider the problem of the present as a historical
problem."
