Dear list members,

Over the next 3 months my participation and monitoring will be reduced
owing to various commitments, not least a much needed break from
activities here. Most of the time I will still be around to some extent,
making sure that posts get past the spam filters and that your mailboxes
will be filled to overflowing with the usual stuff. However, next week I
will be completely absent, so I suggest the following to ensure
continued smooth operations:

1) Refer to the welcome message or monthly reminder message for
instructions concerning how to unsubscribe or set to nomail, if you plan
to be away for any significant length of time over the summer. Any
messages that get sent directly to me here may be waiting for a while
before I get to answer them.

2) To beat the spam filter, if you are posting to many different
recipients simultaneously (e.g. Lou's Argentina posts), then please be
so kind as to make a separate posting to the A-list, otherwise it will
get held up. I know this will create added work and may be an incentive
not to post to us, but please make the extra effort, especially if it's
something very germane to this list's interests (e.g. Lou's Argentina
posts).

If you have any problems with this then let me know ASAP, otherwise, as
Patrick McGoohan used to say,
